Is Your “Human Verification” Actually a Trap?

Unlike standard CAPTCHAs where you click pictures of traffic lights, this scam tricks you into manually running the virus.

The ClickFix scam relies on social engineering, not complex hacking code.

🛡️ Safe Actions: What To Do

If you encounter a verification screen asking for keyboard shortcuts or clipboard actions:

  • STOP immediately. Do not press “Win + R” and do not paste anything.

  • Close the Tab. Click the X on the browser tab. If the browser freezes, use Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to end the browser task.

  • Clear Your Clipboard. If you accidentally copied the code but didn’t paste it, copy some harmless text (like a random word from a document) to overwrite the malicious code in your clipboard.

  • Report It. Notify your IT security team if this appeared on a work device.
